May 11, 2008 : 3:08 PMJustice Stress Film ClipAmazing clip from young French director Romain Gavras! Check our his previous clips here on his myspace page. I'm going as far as saying he's the new French Spike Jonze although with less of a sense of humour and more of a chip on his shoulder. Very powerful and asks the question was this acted or shot for real. Check this page for a big debate on the clip and it's controversy. Reminds me of watching Kids or Gummo. Justice not only have one of the best albums of last year but also 3 killer film clips to go with it and sexy cover art. The other director I can't get enough of is Tom Kuntz. Best name too. I can;t wait to see him progress to the big screen. Another Kuntz film. I picked a few of my favs of his work here previously.

January 13, 2008 : 3:46 PMBands I discovered in 2007Since we went into 5th gear with Sleevage I have discovered a whole variety of new music. My Itunes in 2006 was 80% late 90's. This was my CD and music listening hey day. Highschool and then study I didn't expand my music tastes beyond this small era. But last year I had to force myself to listen and research music I didn't like or didn't know I like. I found myself discovering bands that everyone talked about that I never paid attention to. I also read what other people posted on Sleevage and checked out all the albums. It's been a great learning experience. I'm slowly becoming a musical nerd. I didn't know my Joy Division from my New Order and now I know the life stories of Crosby, Stills and Nash. Listed below the bands I now have come to really like only in the last 12 months. Many of these will seem obvious but for me I never paid that much attention to popular music. Even popular indie music. Funny that many of these albums had great art and were also listed in many "Best of 2007" album lists on other sites. The Arcade Fire: Memomena: The Battles: The Go Team: Justice: Sigur Ros: Mika: Architecture in Helsinki: Ask me about these bands in Jan of 2006 and I wouldn't know WTF you were talking about. Now I'm a fan of all of them and look forward to what 2008 brings in the way of new music.

October 20, 2007 : 10:56 PMThe Bumblebeez: Dr Love Film ClipI love the pen tattoos! The track isn't that bad either. The director is Tom Kuntz who did that totally awesome Santasm that both freaked me out and make me laugh. You can watch a time lapse video of them applying the pen drawings onto the actors on his site. Not only that he's the genius behind those Skittles commercials among many others. Actually looking at his sportfolio he seems to be the hottest director around. All the ads I like have been done by him.

July 29, 2007 : 6:07 PMThe Reason I like Sepultura and Heavy MetalIt was this music montage at the beginning of Akira and other Manga videos back in the early 90's that had me rocking out. I asked friends at school what the band was "Seputurian?" and it all started from there. I had to do all my research at HMV as I had no idea what the web was. My only experience with the web in high school was the 5 minutes I used it when at a computer fair. I had no music taste before this, I didn't listen to the radio and I didn't own any CD's. I just played video games. (Sega Mega Drive if you're wondering) Seeing this clip made me want to seek out the band and more music like it. And this only happened one other times when I saw the Stinkfist film clip by Tool and Loser by Beck. I remember peopel saying owe then you'll like Metallica but their songs and sound seemed so old school and weak as did their album covers. I ventured into Pantera, Fear Factory and Machine Head and those kept me bopping as I went through highschool. I still have my very worn Seputura shirt I used to wear everywhere.

My Top Music ArtistsIf someone asked me what my fav band was I usually just mention what Ive been listening to last. Beck and Tool usaully spring to mind. Note I have my itunes on random most of the time and the random is pretty shit. It seems to want to create a playlist for me so I end up hearing the same songs all the time. That said I did overplay the latest Justice album for almost a week. It still rocks. Last.FM is perfect for showing my music taste is more of a mess than my beard.

July 16, 2007 : 11:34 PMKayne West at the MTV awardsThis is a PR persons nightmare. After losing out best Film clip to Justice Kayne storms the stage and makes a total ass of himself. Compare the two clips for yourself. The Justice clip certainly kicks ass. Justice: We Are Your Friends Kanye West Touch the Sky: Nigga my shit costs a million dollars!!! haha oh man what an ego.
