I finally got around to making a site for my custom potatoheads. While it's all very rough around the edges it's up and it'll do until I can spend more time on it. It also needs a logo which is in the works but it'll just be the MPH logo with mash instead of head.

I wish now I had of watermarked all my images with the URL but alas there are just many to update. A lesson learnt.

Darth Maul Spud Apprentice: Mr Potatohead 2

Double-Handed Light Saber and cape action.

I actually cut the light saber off another Darth Tater to make this. After gluing it and photographing it I realized I could have just photoshopped it. Oh well if you get to see this in real life it looks the part.

Darth Maul Spud Apprentice: Mr Potatohead

My Darth Tater arrived today (and my camera was finally fixed) so I was able to complete my Darth Maul. Having black arms, feet and cape made this one alot quicker. I'm still tossing up if I need to customize the teeth? Also I should cut the other Darth Tater light sabre and create a double sabre.

Phantom: The Spud Who Walks

Ok the eyes are the worst bit but it was quite hard to get them even this good.

The purple is a custom job as the purple you buy is way to dark.

POTATO SCREAM!

This turned out better than expected.

I used a Darth tater and just flipped the cape over to make a hood, and changed the Light Sabre to a knife.

27 Mr Potato Heads and counting

I've completed my 27th Mr Potato Head (see full list here) and have now got 7 Mr Potatoheads at home ready to be customised. (I went crazy on Ebay and bought up all the 2nd hand ones).

I've also registered MrPotatoMash.com and will move all the news to that site once it's up.

Kill Dill

She's on a mission to Kill Dill. The evil pickle that ruined her life.

She'll also take on the Carrot 88.

Spud Driver

You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well, I'm the only potato here. Who do the fuck do you think you're talking to? Oh, yeah? Ok.

Yellow Potato Head

I actually made this as Crispy M&M (orange) but I think Yellow Peanut M&M fits the shape better.

I should use the Mr Potatohead teeth in all designs if possible as this isn't looking as potato as I would like.

Luigi Potato Head

Luigi hates mushrooms. The mortal enemy of all potatoes.

He's looking a little Village People to me. This is also the first Mr Potatohead I've done with pants. It just didn't look Mario Bros enough without the suspenders.

I would have done Mario but I ran out of red clay. I will have to restock over the weekend.

Mike from Potatos Inc

I had a mini Mr Potato Head lying about (thanks to the bucket I bought so I thought I'd make the little guy from Monster's Inc.

Captain Potato Head

This is one of my favs. I'm not even a Captain America fan I just like the design of the character. His shield is great little prop too.

Star shapes are really hard to cut in the flimsy white clay but even hareder are letters. The A had to be chopped in half then reassembled to make the proper shape.

The white clay is so sticky and fiddly to work with. It's a different brand to the other colours.c

I used the drain strainer from my kitchen for Captin Spu'd shield. It works out perfect. You can see it inthis photo here.

It looks a lot funnier with the normal ears rather than cat ears.

I just realised The Tick doesnt have any pupils! Doh!

The ears would only stand up for a few minutes before they fell down. I have modelling wire inside to keep the shape.

This took about 3 episodes of "My Name if Earl" to finish.

Mr Potato Head Eye shortage

I've run out of Mr Potato Head normal eyes. The fun bucket I bought had 2 bodies in it but only one set of normals eyes. I've actually got 6 of the little guys (one without eyes) around me now so I have to start tearing them down to make new ones.

The more I work on them the more I want to keep them.

Nachoooooo Potato!!!!

I had to make the light blue clay myself by mixing the white and blue together. The cape was from a craft store.

The hard part was the white clay is a different brand of clay and very sticky. Mixed with the blue and it's all sticky.

I originally had him with no ears and just the ear marks but I thought it was funnier with the ears pocking out.

Fryday the 13th: A few sequals on

Here's a full body shot of Jason in potato form.

Half of the reference shots I found on the internet showed his mask with the big chunk taken out of it and lots of battle scars.

I just went over the top with the blood and scars to make it obvious Jason has been to hell and back (litterally).

I cranked up the dials on this one and it turned out great.

After 12 or so sequals the mask has Jason have taken a beating.

Homer Spudsom

Any character where I dont need to change the shoes is an easy character.

Even though It looks like Homer the character is too simple for me and I don't really like the end result.

The Flash

I already had a heap of red on Mr Potato Head so I thought I'd make it easy for myself and do another red character. I'm really happy with the gloves.

Dr Spudberg

My fav character from Futurama (well maybe Bender is)

This was pretty easy to do. Took about 1.5 hrs and most of that was trying to get the face suckers the right size.

I realise now that Ziogberg wears sandles but for this the blue soes still fit into character.

Mr Bender Head

Hey Meat bag!

This one took about 2 hrs. I spent probably half an hour trying to get the right grey for the antena, as the clay takes a while to mix in and then you realise it's too dark.

The Incredible Potato Hulk!

Hulk is not afraid of masher! Hulk is strongest there is!

The hard was the hardest part on this guy. I ended up ruinign heaps of green clay as the hair couldnt be seperated when I tore him down.

Mmmmmm potato I am not.

I was sad to rippd this guy down. The head bumps are my fav part.

Shrek Potatohead v2

I still love this one. The arms came out pretty good in this.

The hardest part abotu this character is the ears. They wouldn't stay up!

Performance art with carbs. I used the same technique in this photo as I did in this montage.

It saved making 3 of the buggers.

Fryday the 13th

Jason is a psycho spud out for revenge!

He looks bulked up as the Darth Tater arms already had some clothing on the usually skinny arms.

The eyes look pretty scary in this one.

The mask took the longest time to make. Around 1 hrs just for that.

I used a ball point pen metal end piece to punch the holes in the clay.

The shoes and black hands are curtosy of Darth Tater.

It's more of a butter knife than a machette but it'll do. Notice Darth taters hands? I'm using his Light Sabre as the support for the blade.

Here's some big (speculated) news
The popular toy The Transformers features a character called Optimus Prime. The Transformers slogan is "More than meets the eye"
Well.....Hasbro has filed some very interesting trademarks this week. They have filed trademarks for "Optimash Prime" and "More than meets the fry". The new trademarks lead us to believe Hasbro will be releasing an Optimus Prime version of Mr. Potato Head.
In the text of the trademark application, it claims the trademark is for "toy kits containing a plastic toy figure and detachable plastic body parts for affixing to the toy figure to form various caricatures."

Awesome!!! It makes sense as the movie is goign to be huge in 2007.

Mr Potato Head Shortage

I went to K-Mart and the city toy stores today get buy another plain old Mr Potato Head and could only find the pirate & holloween versions. No plain old Original flavour ones.

I might have to buy from online as the other themed ones have custom items (like dracula teeth, peg legs) and I can't work with them.

The Incredible Spuderman

His spud sense is tingling!

This one is a fav of mine. It took around 4 and a half hours to complete. Mainly the webbing.

I suaully tear these creations down after completing them, puraly on a cost & logistical reasons.

I don't have any room for 30+ Mr Potato Head's. These are also very fragile, the clay never hardens so a simple knock and they mark. So photos are my only memories.

If anyone would like to buy these off me $20 AUD and it's yours. (Sydney only as these guys wont make it through post office without melting away. That way I pay for the replacement Mr Potato Head.

Here's the latest Mr Potato Head mashup.

It's another red character, as I already had him covered in red clay from Doing Dr Ziogberg and The Flash! This guy turned out really well. The filed horns, right arm and facial hair all turned out pretty good.

It isn't his war. He's just in the middle of it.

His arms wouldn't allow him to hold a gun so I made this floppy hunting knife instead.

Almost there. I realise now Yoda has 3 fingers and I need to add the wrinkles on the forehead.

The effect I was hoping for didn't turn out that good. This has to do with my bad lighting.

I went back and revised my Mr.P. The first one looked nothing like him when I checked reference photos (never do this stuff from memory). I'm pretty happy with this one and now I'll have to buy another Mr.Potatoe head so I can continue with my other mashups. As I don't want to dismantle the little guy.
