Dexter and the Rise of Good TV

Dexter_intro.png

With HBO showing the world that good TV can make money it seems we are now spoilet for choice when it comes to TV. HBO still has the lions share of kick ass TV with Rome, Entourage, Deadwood, Carnivale but Showtime seems to have started to make a mark for itself with Weeds and the new show which I've heard nothing about in Australia but now love Dexter.

Sadly you can only access the official site if you are based in the US.

From the Wikipedia page on the show:
Dexter is a Showtime original television series starring Michael C. Hall as serial killer Dexter Morgan, who works as a forensics analyst specializing in bloodstain pattern analysis for the Miami-Dade Police Department. The series is based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. I'll have to add that to my "to read" list.

Will we see Dexter on TV here in Australia? We've already had Weeds (which I'm not sure went too well). For me it's a non issue as downloading the show is the only way to quench my thirst for good TV.

It's sad that Kath and Kim is the only show in recent times to find an audience outside of Australia. Home & Away and Neighbours don't count.
