February 26, 2006: February 26, 2006Bottle Cap RideAnt made this bottle cap bike for us a while back and I finally got around to photographing it. It's one sexy ride Searching for HotelsI've finally booked all my hotels for my Europe trip. Yay. I found the best site to be Worldby.com as the information and maps are quite good. Other sites either give you a map that has no relevance or the photos are tiny. The only thing missing from Worldby.com is user reviews which would be good to have but you can usually google the hotel name and find them that way. Most of my hotel accomodation is 2 star but I'd rather spend more time exploring than sitting in my room. Although I found (form my Australian experience) that a 5 star hotel puts you ina 2 or 3 star room unless you pay an huge fee so star ratings on hotels is useless unless you're loaded. And I get my own bathroom rather than a share one just in case I feel the need for a 30+ minute poo. February 25, 2006: February 25, 2006Seahorse Munchies!
Next time your munching on some potato chips and think the flavours a little bland why not pick up some seahorses from Singapore, they're tasty as! Bannerblog in CR
Our site Bannerblog was mentioned in Creative Review's March issue. This is a quality mag and the hits seem to have gone up as a result. We didn't send them the link I guess they stumbled upon it. I'm pretty chuffed. I just wish the Australia media would show some interest in the site. We've sent press releases (even though I think a link alone is enough) and nothing. Why send a press release? It's to make their jobs easier I guess. Writing 20 words on a site must be tough. Just check the link, make up your mind and publish the MOFO Just just rehash what we send you as that's lazy. This is exactly why people like reading blogs more as these aren't just press releases regurgitated. I'm sounding like a bitter man with a chip on my shoulder but I guess I was naive to think people actually gave a shit what they publish. February 24, 2006: February 24, 2006The Hills Have Eyes
Also play the great 3D game here It's a remake of a classic Wes Craven (Nigtmare on Elm St) film by the same name. I'm usually pretty bad in horror films as I'm really squeamish but now I think it's all in my head, as I really enjoyed The Hills have Eyes and didn't think it was that gory at all. Rob (mr Horror himself), Brad, Christian and the others through it was very gory and felt a little disturbed. I did jump about 10 times and felt foolish for falling for all the old tricks (peopel jumping at windows etc etc) but the audio was cranked in the screening room so everything had huge impact. I guess to me someone getting a pick axe to the head is very comical rather than disturbing. Someone getting their lips scissored off to me is disturbing. I haven’t seen the original but I don’t think this matters much. The plot is about a bunch of mutant miners who control an area of the Arizona dessert and a family who get stuck in their territory. There’s a nice solid story behind the film and it looks amazing. The girl from LOST (the one who had the baby) is in it and a mutant that looks like a thin Gary Busey. There’s also a dude who looks like Rubber Johnny with a giant piñata head. It’s worth seeing even and there is a great scene with a freezer that really freaked me out. The Truffle rating of 8/10 as thats an enjoyable horror film. February 18, 2006: February 18, 2006Singapore BikeYou think your cool riding your Ducati or Honda but you aint shit compared to the dude that rides this around Singapore. He calls you pretty boys behind your back while he roughs it. February 15, 2006: February 15, 2006PatienceI went to Valentines dinner (first time in 7 years sorry Erv) and ended up waiting 1.40 min for my meal. Normaly I annoy the waiter if longer than 30 min but I thought I'd be patient and also I had filled up on my potatoes in spicey sause tapas entree. But as it neared 9pm, after arriving at 7, I had enough. In the end the meal wasn't that good which has lead me to create a strict guidline for resturants. 1: Always order the resturant specialty. ie dont go to a Spanish place and order steak. Order Tapas. Only order steaks from Steak Houses. February 11, 2006: February 11, 2006Date Movie GameWe just completed a game for Date Movie. We wanted to keep this one simple and also try a new approach. PIxel art instead of the usualy vectors. I think it turned out great and Mike did an awesome juob building it. Dave our new designer animated Rob's initial pixel art and designed the remianing screens for the game and Brett did the sound effects. I myself didn't do much for this besides throw the initial game ideas into the ring. Oh and I also made Mike put in the secret 10,000 point bonus video :) Hopefully we can do more games with this pixel style. Although we have a long way to go before we can animate like this guy. His pixel art work is amazing! I cant stop watching his Bell Commericals.
Dropped IcecreamThis shot of a dropped icecream is one of my favs for this year. Hopefully summer will provide me with a few more to photograph. You can get this photo as a desktop wallpaper here, in all the major sizes. These turned out great I think. MI3 The Hunt
I just completed ther first misison for Mission Impossible 3 Ultimate Hunt. Normally with these things you'd expect it to be quite simple but the first was relativly complicated. I had to download the Superbowl trailer for the movie and google the licence plate from that. Which was TPJ-527. Clicking the only link form that then tracks my mission as being complete. Check it out here on google Very cool, I'll be inetrested to see if they do a google earth mission and what other bits of technology will be used in the 14 remaining misisons. February 10, 2006: February 10, 2006Golden Tomato Awards 2005Check out the Golden Tomato Winners for 2005 Kung Fu Hustle won best foriegn release which is great. Thaat was my fav film for 2005 just ahead of The Incredibles. Serenity beat Star Wars for best Sci Fi release. The power of fans over franchise! Both movies were a little lacking but you can't go past the 4 armed light sabre fight from Star Wars 3 February 08, 2006: February 8, 2006Geriatrics At Your Fingertips!!!!!My idea for a killer zombie horror film has already been made into a handbook for aged care. Check it out here, scary shit! Brad picked up a typo on the cover. Not that I have ever spelt anything correctly since I started using ICQ. February 04, 2006: February 4, 2006Nathan J's Scary Girl Exibition in Japan
Nathan J has just finished his first Japanese exhibition. There's plenty of original artwork and limted digital prints of his work up for sale. It seems Scary Girl is going off for him right now with a movie and TV show planned. Nathan and the gallery sent me a few pieces of his work. If interested contact the gallery for pricing. Prices ranging from about $80 AUD up to $2,000AUD View the rest of what was on offer here. I really like the sketches and am hoping to get one or two for home to add to the Ash-enhiem Gallery. ExtrasI just watech season 1 of Extras (a whole 6 episodes is what the UK call a season) but it's great. Not sure when it will get release here in Aus but it's worth picking up if you see it anywhere. It's not as funny as the office but it's fresh every episode with a guest star and different enviroment. Ben Stiller (serial sitcom guest star) is great in the 1st episode. He appears in this after being in Arrested Dev and Curb, the guy must love doing cameos. |
