October 30, 2005: October 30, 2005Agency WebsitesI found the following two agency websites funny as they just didn't seem to try very hard.
This is in comparison to sites liek BBDO, Fallon and Leo Burnett which are just as good as the agencies behind the sites. October 27, 2005: October 27, 2005PSP UpdateI was lucky enough to receive 7 PSP games from a friend who reviews games for a living. So my PSP worries are over. I'm currently trying toget past the first boss in MediEvil which is great and trying to fisnihg one race in WipeOut Pure without crashing and dying. I think I'll buy GTA: Vice City Stories while I still have a $10 off voucher. The problem I found with having the white PSP is it gets dirty easily. Easspecialy when grubby fingered friends use the analogue controller!!!! Yeah I'm looking at you Brad :) I'm still waiting for my 1GB memory stick and need ot buy a screen protector aswell (very paranoid right now) Oh and surfing the web while kinda slow is actually OK. This site actually come up alright if you choose to have the content reshuffled. To bad the URL is a pain inteh ass to type in on the PSP. Thanks again Jason for fising the WIFI settings for me. October 24, 2005: October 24, 2005Hoff at the ARIA's 2005Part of the deal for doing the ARIA awards website was to also have our logo on the media wall. I didn't think i would be this excited to see our logo next to the Hoff or Missy Higgins. You can see our logo in most of the media wall shots here and here I doubt it will lead to any work for the company as it's better served for branding of a consumer brand but hey it looks cool. More photos from the night and behind the scenes tomorrow. October 19, 2005: October 19, 2005WASP (the bug not the band)
I thought I'd get some photos of this wasp nest right outside my front door before I smash it. Otherwise I'll get stung when the nest turns into this huge megamall for wasps.
October 17, 2005: October 17, 2005Alien ChickenThis looks like something from the prop department at Fox after they finished shooting a new Aliens film. Either that or it's a horse fetus but that thought actually turned me off eating it. October 16, 2005: October 16, 2005Rprsnt Confrence
I spent my Friday at Saturday at Rprsnt a "Creative" conference in Syndey's Luna Park. This was run by the guys at Refill magazine and featured a good variety of speakers both from Aus and overseas. I enjoyed MrCartoon and his entourage, Pablo Farrer (the dudes like 70 and still kicking it), Brand New School, Umeric (best prepared talker) and the guys from Odd Studio. They tried out a new format which was one of the organisers (Luca) interviewing people as they showed their work. This is different to the usual get up and speak format. In theory this is a great idea but in practice it makes for bad viewing. Umeric kept to the traditional presentation format and I think the crowd (around 2000 people) would agree that his presentation was the best. If only Ash from Umeric was better at fielding questions from the audience like the Mr Cartoon guys. The problem with the interview format is the lack of direction, even with prepared questions (i don't think there were) it's hard to extract a good story from people if they are not prepared. Also Luca had a hard time just listening to the speakers and felt the need to talk between every answer (repeating himself and contradicting himself quite a bit) and at times talk over his guests. There was a small store presence out side the talks and a few technical issues on the days but these are to be expected from volunteers and designers. Maybe next time spend more money on getting professional help guys :) One central computer that everyone presents off would probably be a good idea too. After the two days of hearing all these designers speak you cant help but feel inspired. Even if it is to start your own conference and watch as the mo' money pours in :) Flickr Babes
I think it's amazing that another site can be spawned from Flickr and I bet there are others out there but if I start searching I'll probably come across some sick shit which will turn me off eating so I'll stick with babes. October 15, 2005: October 15, 2005My White PSPMy effort to not buy anything till 2006 failed miserably with the purchase of a White PSP form Japan. A friend just came back with my new little baby. I even saved money buy going through Japan with the SP costing just $300 instead of $399. 25% off and I get a white one. Not bad? I have no games, videos or anything yet and will have to go shopping on Sunday as tomorrow is the second day of Rpresent. Day 1 was quite interesting in both the speakers and the fuck ups. Also doing the Math 1500 people x $100 average + sponsors cash = BF$ I'll also be calling in everyone else who owns a PSP to grab the videos and crap they have already downloaded for their PSP's. October 13, 2005: October 13, 2005October 10, 2005: October 10, 2005Bling My Bomb
All the blurs, glows and the effects are all Flash 8 coded. Mike and Brett did an awesome job doing all the litle things like radio, background transitions, car bounce effect and upload photo that really polish off the site nicely. Normally I have to build the sites by myself and these extra bits would have not been done or left till 2-3 weeks after launch. I'm more proud of this site than all my others based on what I learnt and the the final product. Flash 8 was a dream to work in (save for a few security sandbox issues) I can't wait till flash 8 becomes standard as these is so much you can do it's crazy. Even the grafitti on the rollerdoor is all vector. October 07, 2005: October 7, 2005October 03, 2005: October 3, 2005Party Warehouse
This warehouse near my office is a party venue waiting to happen. The first flight of stairs had been re-enforced but I was too scared to go up the next flight (seen here) as it was missing a few steps and no one knew I was in this building. Old Orange Recliner
This beauty was right outside my door when I left today. I liked it so much it's now in my lounge room. Score! October 01, 2005: October 1, 2005 |
