March 24, 2003: March 24, 2003Walk from Benalla to Pitti took 500+ photos from my house to pitt st mall i made a movie from it it's 5MB but it seems to stream ok on a ASDL yes people did stare March 23, 2003: March 23, 2003Pro Recycling RallyWith all this anti war protest it just makes me wish these people were as passionate with issues that they can really make a difference with. Instead of chanting "NO MORE WAR" why not walk through the city singing "REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE" I mean no matter what some unwashed hippie says we are not backing out of the war that is well underway. However the protest could have made a big difference by picking up the rubbish on their walk around the city. The mini protest i saw today at 5pm looked more disorganised than a teacher organising tunnel ball at school camp. In fact at leat tunnel ball would have been fun. The police coudl also join in. March 21, 2003: March 21, 2003Boring Start to WarI guess we have to wait for the images of the missiles point of view befor eit hits Iraq to see some real action cause the first day was pretty sutble. Iraw didn't seem to reallt retaliate except for firing a coupel of rockets in the Kuwait. Maybe they wernt ready. It was ready set and then US firect before the unpire said go. Luckily in war there are no rules. People wanna see tanks shotitng shit up and people getting maimed. building on fire and POW's getting kicked in the back. But today even Palestienian kids put up a better fight. If the war in Iraq is swift and fast what does that say to the other poepel on the hit list. Nth Korean, iran, syria. Id say it's better fo the USA to take out Iran and Syria before tackling Nth Korea as 1: they already in the bighbourhood So if the USA tackles Nth korea next then has to come all the way back to the middle east it seems like the long way round creating a new world order. Anyway i bet CNN are hoping for a better day 2 of war cause an A Team episode had more firepower. March 18, 2003: March 18, 2003Sixties 9Here's the low down from Rob on how the new flavours of Magnum stack up Wood Choc Cherry Guevara Candy Warhol Peace Man Go Jami Hendrix Cinnaman on the Moon
Chock Work Orange Guava Lava The concept is quite good and its better than just adding one new flavour every 6 mths like Paddle pops do. Also the packaging on the Chock Work Orange has little deliquents putting the rubbish in the bin. Little deatils like that are nice. March 17, 2003: March 17, 2003Deisgner CookbookI didn't think deisgners really cared about cooking. But a cookbook for designers by designers seems pretty lame. What's next? designer yoga and handball rules from designers. Anyway maybe i'm just bitter I wasn't asked as maycontaintracesofnuts will be missing a few key recipes from me. 1: Toasted Cheese Sandwhich All meals should be served with a large Milo (dry if no milk) March 16, 2003: March 16, 2003Search FieldMacromedia.com has redesigned and it certainly looks alot nicer. Im still baffled why they allow you to his search with an empty field. I mean it's pretty easy to put a check in on the field to say "hey dickhead, enter something to search for" but then it may be the user friendly way to direct the user to the full search page?? if so then again the search button would see that they searched for nothing and direct them to the full search page without querying the server???? It's like flushing with no poo. useless and a waste of resources. Imagine the toilets of the future. (note: everything in my future dreams talks) It would also play music while you go to hide any embarressing splash sounds. I also hate when sites that send your details to the server, only 3-5 seconds later to be told that your password didn't match the second password field. Or that you forgot to fill out your gender. Again it would so much easier for the user to be told straight away using javascript. March 13, 2003: March 13, 2003The piece of grassMerrimac Moment that im too lazy to properly upload I remember at highschool when we had football training (i was in the lower of the two C teams)and the coach was having us tackle bags which he was holding. So I run up and for once try to put some effort into a tackle. He moves it at the last second and I fly striaght into the ground and skid. I pick myself up and spit out some grass and go back in line to do it all again. (this time more cautious) Then about a week later I blew my nose and out came a 10cm + piece of grass from my nose. It was until later that day I realised it was from the footy practice. It's like finding those albino hairs on your arm/back/chest that have grown 30x the normal length. You pluck it out and lose it before being able to show anybody. (i hope im not the only one who gets them) Mushroom CityWe had quite a mushroom crop happening in the back yard (side garden thing) due to the amount of rain we have been having. I'm not sure whether they are slugs or snails but they ate everyone of them last night. I get these photos just in time. There was like 20 of them. I now no longer have to water the lawn every night in fear of killing off the grass. I was afriad of being hit with a huge turf bill when the owners of the unit find out how bad I am at keeping the garden neat. The bald spot in the grass is also gone. The combover on the long grass didnt really work Also actually having a garden is a new experience in Sydney. As soon as it rains the first thing I think of is "mmm this will be good for the garden" March 11, 2003: March 11, 2003Scarygirl.comThe scarygirl site is up. Nathan designed it and I flashed it up. Order from the site and get a limited (20) signed Scarygirl toy. I can't wait to get mine!!! Don't like the SkinI saw this old lady on the train in fornt of me eating apple. Now theres nothign wrong with that. But then after each bite she spat the peel into a clear plastic bag. Chomp, munch munch munch, spit She didnt seem to avoid the peel either. Purposly eating and spitting. Im not sure of where the practice comes form but I only spit if in dire need. But everywhere I look in Sydney I'm surrounded by people spitting. on the trains, waiting of the bus. Not onto grass or in a bin but pretty much evetywhere. I guess it's the equivilent of dropping your cigerette but where ever you please. What do you say to someone that has just hocked a piece of snot next to you? pick it up? Rub his/her nose into it. March 08, 2003: March 8, 2003Gangs of New YorkI saw GONY last night. We decided against jackass as we were going to eat in the cinema and wasn't sure if there would be 15 min of vommit to try and eat too. Well GONY is like an American version of Braveheart. Only shitty. Sure there's lots of violence but it's all just fillers for the rest of the shit they throw at you. The violence is also a combination of wacks and blood spurting. It made sense for the priest to die at the start as he wouldn't have to try and act throught he rest of the movie. Lucky guy So i suggest getting GONY on DVD. At least with Jackass I'd have something to talk about at work on Monday. Now with GONY i have nothing. What did other people think of the film? March 06, 2003: March 6, 2003Singapore TripI was asked to speak at Singapore this week at a Flash Games confrence!!!!! With my airfare paid for !!!!!!!! Only problem is i never got the email that was sent 3 weeks ago. Instead I got phoned 2 days before as the person (Serene) though I wasnt interested. No worries i'll book a flight for tomorrow and you can fly out, she says. Ahhhh ummmm shit. I have a job we are working on and it's due this week. And I can't afford to miss the deadline. Ummm ahhhhh shit mmmmmmmmm shit If ever there was a good case for cloning humans!!! So it seems I will not be enjoying statay sticks in a snazzy hotel room :( Just lucky Serene doesn;t take offence easily. But there should be one in KL later in the year and i'm kinda booked for that. Yay. At least there's no language barrier. March 02, 2003: March 2, 2003Fake LomoI saw this post on Kottke linking to a tutorial to create a Lomo looking photo from your expensive camera. I decided to give it a try and the results worked out pretty good. I left the original image in there so you can see the result. I also added a blured layer on top and masked that out aswell. Also using adjustment layers made the whole thing easier to alter. The next issue of Happy Snaps will all be fake lomo!
