Gold Coast

Having not lived on the Gold Coast for nearly 5 years now, you forget certain things or you start to realise things you never knew before.

The gold coast has so many home made ads on TV it's not funny. It's quite embarressing sometimes.

You never realised that everyone who serves you at store is actually quite nice (compared to Sydney standards) I guess it's the tourist thing.

You also don't realise that even if the Gold Coast has nice looking restuarants the food still sucks. Although they seem to know how to charge Sydney prices.

Also there is heaps of old ladies with big blonde hair and very thick Versche sunglasses. I guess it's the fashion.

Quote of the day, so far "I love Chinese food, my favourite is anything 'Sweet and Sour' or Teriaki Beef". hehe

The public transport system sucks.

With Google dominating the way we search (in a good way) its great to see them sharing the massive amount of data they collected.

Xmas

I found that if you give your Xmas presents early it feel alot better as the person gets to use the present for a week or so before it becomes half prioce in a Boxing Day sale.

Also it makes Xmas less commerical as its not abouth the presents (you have already given them out)

Xmas is also good as all the big ass movies come out. LOTR for big kids and Harry Pooper for the little kids.

Also TV tries somethign different and you get to sample good and bad shows. America must pump out alot of crap on TV to fill up all the channels. We've got 4 commerical ones and there enough crap already.

Bird Poo Game

Why not play the Bird Poo game at Virgin Mobile.

We at Soap have just finished building this and it was fun talking to the client. i havent said the word poo so much.

Good on Virgin Mobile for making the word "poo" popular again.

Beetles

Late at night we are now being invaded by beetles. This is what people with no fly screens have to live with.

They are just boring brown beetles and die pretty easily with the whack of some, within reach, wrapping paper.

I tried to flcik them outside but after the 5 th beetle I decided that killing was easier. Also it sent a message out to all the other bugs to go away.

So here's a tip for any apartment or home buyer. Get fly screens. Old places with no fly screens suck dogs balls.

The time to give

I think World Visions Smiles campaign is a great idea.

Instead of just donating $20 you can actually pick what that money will do for needy people. There's even bigger items for the companies such as the water pump.

So instead of buying your relatives lame presents just because you have to, why not donate to World Vision then send the relative the christmas card to say that they have made someone else happy.

Flashkit

I spoke at the Flashkit confrence on friday which was fun. Again it's very hard to judge how well you go and the fact I was told that I could talk 3 days before I had to made my preperation very slim. I wish I could have stayed aorunf for the other talks but I was busy at work.

This was only the second time I had spoken in front of a large amount of people. There was around 80 people at this one, compared to 200 or so last year. It's very hard to get a response form the crowd. Maybe it's becuase i'm a hack or something or people are just shy? Or the fact my talk was holding up lunch break.

Either way speaking for 1 hr actually goes pretty fast. I guess I'm used to teaching 3 hr classes. I think it's alot easier to talk about soemthing you have a strong opinion on and you are not trying to teach people anything to indepth. If your talk remains simple and conversation like it's alot easier.

TV Season

The christmas TV season is better than the regular ratings season.

Amazing Race, Sapronos series 3 repeat and Futurama.

Also that new show Scrubs seems pretty funny.

Some low lights include that stupid superman show on ABC and the '8 Simple Rules' pile of TV poo.
