July 31, 2002: July 31, 2002The next trainInteresting that someone has archived the Voice of Cityrail I do prefer the female voice, which they brought in for the 2000 Olympics. The monitors they have now at the major stations, displaying what train is next, and the next two trains to come are no only a nice piece of design but a valuable resource for train goers. I wonder if this is standard in many countries? Or is Australia a leader in the field. And speaking of questions where did tap dancing originate? July 28, 2002: July 28, 2002Virus EmailsVirus emails are annoying, but if you operate on a MAC then most are harmless to you. I just enjoy opening up the random attachments. I've received porn, things to do lists, letters talking about breakups and resumes. It's kinda like getting wrongly addressed mail to your house and you read it. Microsoft should make it impoosible for virus's to fake the email sender and also access the address book. Or i guess the general public just have to be a little more aware and never open up .exe files from random people. Or everyone could switch to MAC :) July 22, 2002: July 22, 2002Dropped LaptopLike crashing a car into a pole, breaking your arm or burning your genitals wth hot coffee. Dropping your laptop is really fucking annoying. Luckily everything still works in mine it just looks minda shitty. Bastard!! July 21, 2002: July 21, 2002Digital Camera OwnersIf I had of known about this little baby I wouldn't have bought another Memory Stick for my camera. They come in 5,10,20 and 30BG models and work for Mac and PC. Both firewire and USB. You can travel around the world with 1 memory card for your camera and this MindStor. You just pop your memory card into the Mindstor and download. It's tiny too. This is alot better than carting around a laptop and having heaps of Memory Cards. Prices start at $810 AUD but it's also a portable HD. The time and effort it will save you is well worth the investment. If you get the right adapter it will work with practically any memory card. I guess I should have bought another battery for my camera instead. July 19, 2002: July 19, 2002Sapronos Series 4Lets hope free to air TV in Australia pick up the Sapranos Series 4 as quickly as they picked up The Osbournes. Even if they repeat the third series again, it would be nice. Someone mentioned on SBS talkback, that the only time you can see lead gay characters is on monday nights. All at the same time, 10.30 pm Queer as Folk on SBS, Buffy on 7, And Six Feet Under on 9 Thats like having the Cosby Show, Family Matters and Fresh Prince on all at the same time. July 13, 2002: July 13, 2002SpaceStation 3DI saw SpaceStation 3D at the Imax tonight. This was reconmended to me by 3 people. But after seeing it all i could think was that I wanted to see the Circus De Solai one instead. And also why did Tom Cruise narrate the Space movie?? SpaceStation 3D is still good, I just was hyped up too much to fully enjoy it July 10, 2002: July 10, 2002Ruins Photo ArchiveThis sites photos of ruins is very inspiring. Crypt is a very nice series. What makes these photos stand out for me is that these are places I will never get to visit or see anywhere else July 08, 2002: July 8, 2002WINNERS are GrinnersThe Slippery Truffle has been using frames for nearly 3 years now and finally I have been recognised for my efforts on Frameset Site of the Week Just goes to show that it pays to stick to your guns I hate SpidersNothing give me the jeepers more than spiders. Even harmless huntsmen Big thanks to Noel who took the photo. He shate himself when the flash popped up but the spider didn't nudge. That's Noels bathroom and the brown blob is a half eaten cockroach. Even just looking at this photo makes me shiver. Or is it cause it's so cold here?? I have been known to jump out if bed, scream and throw the bed sheets everywhere under the impression a spider was in the bed. This was however only a dream. I also talk alot in my sleep, (80% of the time) so i'm like one step away from sleep walking. I once picked up my belt buckle when the phone rang and tried to talk to it :) TV on MondayChannel 10 has put 'The Osbournes' on at 9.30 on Mondays. Putting it right up against 'Sex and the City' Why put what could be the best rating show for 10 up against what is one of the highest rating shows on another network?? I guess they are trying to steal the thunder off Nine? It might proove to be a good move just like Six Feet Under went up against the bankable Buffy and seemed to come out ontop. But still why not put on a different night and grab every viewer you can rather than the ones who don't liek Sex and the City. Monday is like the only night where I watch TV and it's jam packed with good shows form 7.30 - 11.30. 4 solid hours of pleasurable viewing. Even more now that the channels have doubled up. We dont have TIVO in Australia so until DVD's allow you to tape directly form the TV onto them, the VCR will still be commonplace . Speakign of TV, with Big Brother 2 doing so badly for channel Ten, i wonder if there will be a third series? All I can say is that I would not be buying shares in Gretyle right now. I still think they should have played some psychological tricks on the house mates to try and break them. Instead of just getting them to dress up and get drunk. Imagine pumping whale noises into the house at high volume for 24hrs straight, spiking the food with LSD and watching them all go crazy. Make them work for the money. July 05, 2002: July 5, 2002A violent 3D roadrunner typeA violent 3D roadrunner type Cartoon which looks really good in the screenshots but i'll have to wait until i'm on a better connection for waiting for 25MB to download WinterWhen you work from home during winter, PJ's become a permant piece of clothing. Winter is also the time where doing the washing up is a great excuss to warm your hands in the water. It's also a time when you feet are covered by socks almost 23hrs a day. Only removed for that extra long hot shower. July 03, 2002: July 3, 2002Sticky SockI went from Nth Straithfield to Town Hall and then Kings Cross with the right leg of my pants tucked into my pulled up sock. I only realised as I walked up the escalator of Kings Cross. Luckily I was wearing nice socks DohInsert winge here: $550 to fix the scratch on the rental cars bumper. WTF Neighbours above me don't seem to understand (or know of) the 5pm rule of work on units. Drilling at 9pm isn't kosher. Geez it's cold :) 56k is crap 18 days in new place and still surrounded by boxes Table tennis table seems to be broken a little ( i think it heard the stuff I wrote about it) $6 montly bank fee!!!!! Ahh feel better now. Camera ShyHaving not used a camera in a few months I have yet again become camera shy. It feels weird to whip out the camera ont he train and happily take photos of your shoes. As you can see by the front page my camera can now take photos in zero light. Which is great. I remember in Indo one time i couldnt get any in focus shots becoase there was no light. Only candles. It will take time for my hand to get used to the button placement. As my muscle memory is still in tune with the 505v. I now have a higher resolution camera so i should be able to extract better crops form photos i take. I can't wait to travel again!!! July 02, 2002: July 2, 2002NEW CAMERAAfter waiting a fair while I finally got my new camera!!!! The Sony 707. Before I had the Sony 505V so this new one is 202 bigger. Although I missed out on a V. The delivery guy dropped the box right in front of me!!! I also finally got my key to the letter box after 2 weeks of waiting. Opening the letterbox was like christmas had come early. After moving from a unit on the top level to one on the lower level you never realise how loud the echo is when someone pee's. Anyway Happy Snaps should be getting updated soon.
